NPFL: Rangers coach Ekeh satisfied with goalless draw at Plateau United
By: Wale Mustapha
Enugu Rangers’ coach, Ekenedilichukwu Ekeh, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance despite their goalless draw against Plateau United on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11.
The Flying Antelopes were unable to take full advantage of a numerical advantage, as Plateau United’s goalkeeper, John Amah, was sent off just before halftime.
Despite being a man up for the second half, Rangers could not break down the Peace Boys’ defense, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Ekeh, who was standing in for the club’s Technical Adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu, acknowledged that while the result was not what Rangers had hoped for, it was still a positive outcome, especially considering the circumstances of the game.
“It was a great game from both sides, and the match had a derby-like intensity, with many players having a history with the opposing team,” Ekeh said after the match.
“The game became much more difficult for us when our opponents were reduced to 10 men, as they worked hard to cover for the missing player. We came to Jos for the maximum points, but one point is also good enough,” he added.
Rangers now sit in sixth place on the NPFL standings with 16 points from 11 matches. Their next fixture will see them host Insurance FC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.
