By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Shooting Star’s aspirations to qualify for continental football suffered a further lull after a 3-0 loss to Bayelsa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Friday.

Ifeanyi Ogba opened scoring for the Yenegoa based host in the 27th minute.

Wisdom Magbida doubled the lead in the 40th minute of play at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenegoa.

A minute after the restart, Kehinde Malik made it 3-0 for Ladan Bosso’s side.

Shooting Stars (3SC) conceded three goals in an NPFL game for the first time in 482 calendar days since a 2-3 loss at Abia Warriors on December 17, 2023.

They occupy the fifth position on the table with 48 points after 33 games.

Bayelsa United, on the other hand, moved up the log to the ninth position with 45 points.

More Matchday 33 games will take place across the country on Saturday and Sunday with six games before the end of the 2024/25 season.

Remo Stars have a six-point lead at the top of the table ahead of Rivers United.
