NPFL: Sporting Lagos sack coach Paul Offor, eye Abdullahi Biffo as replacement

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Sporting Lagos, a prominent team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has made a significant coaching change, parting ways with Coach Paul Offor and his technical staff.

While the precise reasons behind Offor’s dismissal remain undisclosed even after overseeing 30 NPFL matches, the decision marks a pivotal moment for the club.

Under Offor’s guidance, Sporting Lagos achieved a remarkable milestone by securing promotion to the prestigious NPFL, demonstrating their prowess in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

However, despite their entry into the top tier, the team’s performance has been mixed, currently occupying the 12th position in the league table with 38 points after 30 games. Notably, Sporting Lagos has showcased a balanced but slightly lacking performance, with 29 goals scored and 30 conceded, resulting in a goal difference of -1.

In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing the team’s trajectory, Sporting Lagos has appointed Abdullahi Biffo, the former Kwara United boss, as their new head coach.

This decision, confirmed exclusively by reliable sources to Brila Media, comes at a crucial juncture, with only eight games remaining in the season.

Biffo’s extensive experience and proven track record in Nigerian football signal a shift in momentum as Sporting Lagos intensifies its efforts to avoid relegation in its inaugural NPFL campaign.

With Biffo at the helm, Sporting Lagos aims to harness his expertise to navigate the challenges ahead and secure their position in the top flight.

As the club enters this pivotal phase, all eyes are on Biffo and his ability to inspire the team to overcome adversity and achieve success on the pitch.
