NPFL: Victor Mbaoma inches closer to Remo Stars return from Rwanda’s APR

By Wale Mustapha

Former Remo Stars captain Victor Mbaoma is on the verge of rejoining the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, marking a return nearly a decade after beginning his professional career with the club.

The 27-year-old forward, who last played for Rwandan side APR FC, is currently finalizing terms with the Sky Blue Stars following the expiration of his contract abroad.

Mbaoma first left Remo Stars in 2016 after their relegation, moving to Akwa United where he played a key role in the club’s 2017 Federation Cup triumph. He later joined Enyimba in 2020 before making the switch to APR, where he helped secure a league title.

During his initial NPFL stint, the former home-based Super Eagles striker netted 51 goals in 140 appearances across spells with Remo, Akwa United, and Enyimba.

His return is seen as a major boost for Remo Stars as they prepare to defend their NPFL crown in the upcoming 2025/26 season.
