NPFL: You will be relegated if you fail to perform – Plateau United’s Elisha Golbe
By Saheed Afolabi
Plateau United defender Elisha Golbe believes regardless of how big his team is, if they fail to perform, they will be relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League at the end of the season.
The Peace Boys have only managed a win in four matches this season ahead of their fifth game of the campaign against Nasarawa United and the worried defender insists that the comparison of the abridged NPFL groups shouldn’t be excused for the Tin City club’s struggle in the ongoing season.
“The reason why many people said that group A is harder than group B, because in group A there are a lot of big teams with pedigree in the league, but you know in Nigeria league, there’s no big or small team,” Golbe told brila.net.
“When you look at the table, you will see big teams down the table, so there’s no too much comparison. You have to work harder to make sure you get your points but trying to compare the group doesn’t matter.
“People say group A is harder but if you are in group B and fail to perform, you will still get relegated.”
Plateau United are seated on the sixth position in the group A of the NPFL abridged league with four points from four matches and Fidelis Ikechukwu’s side will be hoping to improve on their recent matches as they face Nasarawa United away in Katsina in their next match.
