NWFL Championship: Chosen Generation gaffer sees positives in Unification draw

By Saheed Afolabi
Chosen Generation head coach, Victor Agbagu, has focused on the positive aspects of his team’s 1-1 draw with Unification Ladies at St. Patrick College, Calabar.
The Ogun State-based side secured their first point in the NWFL Championship following a challenging start to the season, where they faced three consecutive losses to Delta Babes, Ibom Angels, and Papa Soccer Angels.
Agbagu acknowledged the difficulty of the match but expressed satisfaction with the development and progression of his players.
“The game was a tough one, but what I’m happy about is the development and progress of the girls,” Agbagu told nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.
He noted that while the draw was a step forward, converting their chances could have turned the result in their favor.
“Two consecutive defeats to having a draw now. I think the next step is for us to have a win now. The players were able to do their best on the field but we couldn’t convert our chances. If we had converted our chances, we could have won the match,” he said.
The coach remains optimistic about their upcoming match against Ibom Angels, who have already secured their place in the next round.
“Victoria Collins, the main striker that we have, I don’t think any team has that type of striker in this tournament. She has really been helpful in pushing the attack.
“Going against Ibom Angels, I believe they will want to play safe because they are already through to the next round. We will take the game to them and try as much as possible to get a win, hopefully.”
Agbagu’s focus on player development and his belief in the team’s potential to secure a win in their final fixture reflects his commitment to guiding Chosen Generation towards continued improvement.
