Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership holders, Bayelsa Queens have signed Moshood Shakirat for the remainder of the season.
The centre midfielder joined the Prosperity Girls on loan from second-tier NWFL Championship outfit, Kwara Ladies.
The player is joining the Yenegoa-based side in a bid to add more bite and youthful strength to the middle of the park and will don the jersey number six at the club during her stay.
Shakirat was one of the key players for Kwara Ladies during last season’s NWFL Championship in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
She scored three goals for the Ilorin-based side last season in the second-tier league behind Mary Lucky (Heartland Queens), Tolulope Omoniyi (Kwara Ladies), and Ugobest Osuji (Heartland) that all scored four goals.
The player might likely play her first game against Rivers Angels this week or against Heartland Queens at Dan Ayiam Stadium, Imo State on March 1.
Domo Okara’s side are hoping to retain the league title they won last season and compete again on the continent following their bronze-winning debut at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
The team occupy the second position in Group A behind Delta Queens and are beefing up their squad for the second stanza of the season and the new addition is a step towards achieving that feat.
