NWFL Premiership MD8 Previews: Delta Queens host holders Bayelsa Queens in Asaba

The 2022/23 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership resume on Wednesday February 8, 2022, with Delta Queens versus Bayelsa Queens set to headline the round eight matches after going on a mid-season break.
The NWFL Premiership which kicked on November 30 with an abridge format of 14 teams splitted into two groups (A and B) of seven teams each went on break for mid-season transfers,  between January 23 and February 3.
Before the break, Delta Queens lead group A with 16 points as they remain the only unbeaten team in the league with five wins and a draw from six matches, while the defending champions Bayelsa Queens maintain the second position with 11 points at the end of Week Seven matches.
Edo Queens are dictating the pace in group B with 12 points in 6 matches while Nasarawa Amazons stays in second with just 2 points behind. With three teams tied on point in Group B, some fire cracking contest is expected to rock the week. Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels, and Confluence Queens are only separated with goal difference.
This week, Delta Queens, will host the holders Bayelsa Queens at the Asaba Township Stadium in Delta State as Delta looks to maintain its unbeaten run, while Bayelsa will hope to close up the gap on the group leaders.
Heartland Queens are aiming to pick up maximum points when they travel to Osogbo Township Stadium for a clash against the Osun Babes. The Owerri Landladies will hope to do the doubles after defeating the Omoluabi Babes 2-0 in the first leg.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels will host Royal Queens at the University of Port Harcourt. In their first leg meeting, Royal held the Angels to a goalless draw and will look to upset the former champions who are third on thr log with just 9 points from 6 matches.
Adamawa Queens will go all out for revenge when they welcome FC Robo Queens to the Atiku Abubakar Stadium. The team paid rent when they visited Lagos with their 3-0 bashing by the Lagos Landladies in the Week-Seven encounter played at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Lagos.
At the Enyimba stadium, Abia Angels will welcome Nasarawa Amazons to fierce contest after losing 2-1 to the Northern Amazons in their last encounter.
Two days later,  Confluence Queens will look forward to completing a double over Ibom Angels in front of their home fans when they welcome the Angels to Lokoja stadium after returning home with the maximum points from Uyo.
The top three teams from each group will compete for the ultimate prize in a Super 6 playoffs at the end of the current league campaign.
