NWFL Premiership quartet through to BOWFT semi final

Remo Stars Ladies, Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, and Delta Queens are through to the semi-final of the 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT) after quarter final wins in Benin City on Saturday.

Newly promoted NWFL Premiership side, Remo Stars Ladies saw off holders, FC Robo Queens 3-1 after coming back from a goal down with Onyebuchi Chidinma giving the Lagos Landladies the lead in the sixth minute.

Ibrahim Hannah equalised for Remo Stars from a well-connected corner kick in the 37th minute before Vincent Precious gave the team the lead in the 40th minute.

Praise Aigboje extended the lead for the Ikenne-based side in the 78th minute.

Following their 1-0 win over Confluence Queens, the Bayelsa Queens improved on their performance in the quarter-final game, to thrash Ekiti Queens 4-1 at the University of Benin Sports Stadium, in Benin.
Chinyere Igboamalu opened the goal account in the 6th minute before Blessing Abiola made it 2-0 in the 24th minute and Ekiti Queens pulled one back to reduce the deficit.
Edo Queens emerged victorious in a breathtaking match against Heartland, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
The Benin-based team coached by Moses Adukwu claimed a 2-1 victory in a match that saw super-sub, Eunice Godwin finding the back of the net.
In the 38th minute, Abdul Rasheed capitalised on a loose ball from a free kick to give Edo Queens a 1-0 lead.
In the 63rd minute, it was Heartland’s turn to shine as Ekezie Okachi headed in from a corner, leveling the score at 1-1.
Super-subustitute Eunice Godwin and Joy Jerry combined brilliantly on the left wing. Eunice Godwin showcased her skills, latching onto a precise pass from Jerry, and found the back of the net in the additional minutes of the second half.
Delta Queens beat Nasarawa Amazons 3-1 in another quarter-final game to book a spot in the semis.
