Obinna Nwobodo: Nigerian makes MLS Team of the week after Cincinnati debut goal

Nigeria midfielder Obinna Nwobodo has been named among best Team of the Week in the Major League Soccer in the United States.
Nwobodo helped Rangers International ended their 26 years’ wait for NPFL title in 2016 starred for Cincinnati following his impressive performance in his side’s 2-1 victory over Houston Dynamo at the TQL Stadium.
Following his impactful display, the midfielder played a key role leading to FC Cincinnati’s opening goal in the 19th minute when he set up Álvaro Barreal, who in turn teed up for Sergio Santos’ brilliant finish.
Nwobodo doubled Cincinnati’s lead two minutes after the restart when his low drive was deflected and beat the keeper to find back of the net.
It was his first-ever goal for Cincinnati and it came in his 28th appearance for the club across all competitions.
This is the second time in Nwobodo’s MLS career that he has been named in the best XI players, and the first was in Week 15 in the 2022 campaign.
The 26-year-old finished with a game-high 11 possessions won, registered 17 duels and 3 interceptions.
