OFFICIAL: SV Werder Bremen confirm Victor Boniface loan acquisition

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigeria international Victor Boniface has completed a season long loan switch to Bundesliga rival, SV Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen following a failed move to AC Milan.
The Nigerian forward was close to sealing a move to the Italian giant but they opted out of the deal following medical irregularities hence his return back to Germany.
“The discussions with those in charge convinced me to make the move to Werder Bremen. I want to contribute with my performances to helping us achieve our common goals this season. I’m looking forward to my new team and my time at Werder Bremen,” he stated on his switch.
The Nigerian forward made his breakthrough at Bodø/Glimt in Norway, where he found the net 23 times across 66 competitive appearances before earning a move to Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
There, his prolific form truly shone, as he registered 32 goals in just 51 matches. Now 24 years old, Boniface has also established himself at international level, representing Nigeria on 13 occasions and continuing to build his reputation as a powerful and reliable striker albeit unlucky due to injuries.
With the details of the loan deal undisclosed, it is expected that Boniface will return back to his parent club once his loan deal expires with no permanent purchase option.
