OFFICIAL: Tunmise Sobowale joins St. Mirren on two-year deal

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian-descent right-back Tunmise Sobowale from Swindon Town.

The 26-year-old joins the Saints on a two-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.

Speaking to the club’s media team after his unveiling, Sobowale expressed his excitement about the move.

“I’m really excited. I’ve spoken to some players who were previously here and they’ve had nothing but good things to say about the club,” he said.

“I think it’s the perfect place for me to play my football right now and to enjoy it. I want to now do the best I can for myself and the club.”

St. Mirren manager Stephen Robinson welcomed the addition and praised Sobowale’s qualities.

“We believe Tunmise has real quality in terms of his athleticism, pace, and energy. He’s coming in to compete with Jayden [Richardson] for a place in the team.

“He can play as a right-sided centre-half or as an attacking right wing-back. His versatility adds important depth and competition to the squad.”

Sobowale made 44 appearances across all competitions for Swindon Town last season and brings valuable experience as St. Mirren prepare for a competitive campaign on multiple fronts.
