Ola Aina hands Brentford first home defeat in Nottingham Forest colour

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Ola Aina was on target as Nottingham Forest secured a stunning 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday, handing the Bees their first home loss of the season.

Aina’s precise finish into the bottom left corner opened the scoring after a pass from Neco Williams towards Chris Wood. Although Wood missed his shot, the ball rolled through his legs to Aina, who made no mistake in converting.

This goal marked Aina’s second of the Premier League season, helping Forest secure their third consecutive victory and lifting them momentarily to third in the table.

The 27-year-old full-back has now scored twice in just 17 Premier League appearances for Forest this term, equaling the total he scored in 31 games during his loan spell at Fulham three years ago. Aina had never scored more than once in any previous campaign, with single goals recorded for Forest last season and during his spells at Torino and Fulham.

Shortly after the second half began, Anthony Elanga capitalized on a mistake from Keane Lewis-Potter, driving into the penalty area and calmly finishing past Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken to double Forest’s lead.

Despite Brentford’s pressure around Forest’s penalty area, they were unable to break through, leaving them with their first home defeat of the season.

Nottingham Forest will now turn their attention to their upcoming Boxing Day clash against Tottenham as they look to maintain their Champions League push.
