Olakunle Olusegun grateful for first Super Eagles call-up

FC Krasnodar forward Olakunle Olusegun has described his maiden invitation to the Nigerian senior national team as a “privilege” and “dream come true” after joining the Super Eagles camp in Moscow.
The 22-year-old was handed a late call-up by head coach Eric Chelle ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly against Russia.
His invitation comes as a replacement for several regulars who withdrew due to injuries and personal reasons.
Olusegun, who played a key role in Krasnodar’s Russian Premier League title-winning season, took part in his first training session with the team on Tuesday night.
“What every player wants is to play for their national team,” Olusegun told Super Eagles Media.
“So, finding myself now in the Super Eagles, it’s a privilege, and it’s an honour for me because it’s not by my power or how I play.”
A former Golden Eaglets star, Olusegun will be hoping to earn his first senior cap in the friendly clash, as he looks to establish himself within the national team setup.
