After announcing her departure from French women’s top flight side, Stade de Reims few days ago, Nigeria defender Oluwatosin Demehin has joined Turkish side, Galatasaray.
The duration and length of the contract was not disclosed as she was not unveiled before featuring in Thursday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) Qualifiers against Slavia Prague.
The former Rivers Angels defender was introduced in the 37th minute of the game for Ecem Cumert in the 2-2 draw.
She received a yellow card in the 46th minute of the encounter with intense pressure on her team defensive line.
After her introduction, Galatasaray went two goals ahead thanks to Andrea Staskova’s brace before Tereza Szewieczkova and Kristina Kosikova leveled the scoreline for the visitors.
Demehin played for Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels before moving to France to join Reims alongside national teammate, Rofiat Imuran.
Both had left Reims before the Paris 2024 Olympics where Demehin played all three group games against Brazil, Spain, and Japan.
Since captaining the U-20 national team to the quarter final of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Demehin had been an integral part of the senior national team.
She played all four games against Canada, Australia, Republic of Ireland, and England at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as the Super Falcons reached the Round of 16.
