Onazi Aims for Europa League Spot Following Trabzonspor Triumph

Nigeria’s midfield maestro, Ogenyi Onazi, is resolute in his belief that Trabzonspor’s path to the UEFA Europa League hinges on maintaining a winning streak in the Turkish Super Lig, according to reports from Completesportsnigeria.com. Trabzonspor, absent from the UEFA Europa League since the 2011/12 season, where they faltered in the group stage, is fervently eyeing a return to European competition.
In a compelling comeback, Onazi and his fellow teammates secured their third victory in eight Turkish League encounters this season, overpowering Akhisarspor 3-1 on Monday. This win propelled them to the sixth position in the Turkish League table.
Trabzonspor currently trails Fenerbahçe in the fourth spot by eight points and Kayserispor in fifth by two points, with nine games remaining in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 25-year-old midfield dynamo, recently summoned for international duty in the Super Eagles’ friendlies against Poland and Serbia, conveyed his satisfaction after the match, stating, “It was a good win, and I am happy to have started again as well. But we must keep winning games to finish as high as we can in the table and maybe get a Europa League ticket. There are still quite a number of games to play.”
With 39 points from 40 games, Trabzonspor positions themselves for a challenging clash against Yeni Malatyaspor in their forthcoming fixture on Sunday. As Onazi leads the charge, the team is poised to carve its way into contention for a coveted Europa League spot.
