Organize unveils ‘Motto’ for 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament

The chairman of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) sub-committee on communication, Crusoe Osagie has revealed the aims of the third edition of the renowned preseason tournament in Nigeria.
Defending Champions, Robo Queens, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, Naija Ratels, Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Ekiti Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Fortress Ladies and Osun Babes are the participating clubs for this year’s edition.
Osagie said part of the programs lined up for the preseason tourney is a seminar which will centered on the success recorded by the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki in ending gender base violence.
He revealed the aims of the tournament is to properly groom the child and provide them the necessary support to excel in their chosen fields.
“A seminar will be held as a sideline event for the tournament on October 31, 2023. Invited first ladies from the 36 States of the federation will attend the event,” Osagie was quoted by The Guardian.
“The seminar will highlight efforts made by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in the past seven years to end gender-based violence.
“The tournament, which has been accredited by football governing body, FIFA, will serve as an avenue to groom the girl-child and give them support to thrive in their endeavours.
“The Obaseki-led administration has made commendable efforts in grooming the girl-child with the strategic implementation of policy reforms in education, job creation and the sports sectors.

The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will host the opening and grand finale matches, while the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Sport Complex and Western Boys High School Sport facility will host the preliminary round matches till the semifinal rounds.
Robo Queens defeated Edo Queens by a lone goal at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium to win the previous edition.
