Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has opened his goalscoring account for Galatasaray, finding the net in the defending champions’ emphatic 4-0 victory away at Kayserispor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker, who joined from Napoli in a record-breaking move this summer, is beginning to embrace his role as Galatasaray’s marquee signing.
His debut goal came in clinical fashion after fine build-up play from Mauro Icardi and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Icardi showed brilliant awareness to pick out Zaniolo’s clever run behind the Kayserispor backline.
With space to exploit, Zaniolo whipped in a precise low cross, leaving Osimhen perfectly positioned to apply the simplest of finishes and extend Galatasaray’s lead to 3-0.
Leroy Sané then capped off the night by adding a fourth, sealing another statement win for Okan Buruk’s men.
The result underlines Galatasaray’s blistering start to the season. The Lions have now recorded three consecutive wins, three clean sheets, and 10 goals scored, a feat the club last achieved at the beginning of the 2007/08 Süper Lig campaign.
With Osimhen off the mark and the squad firing on all fronts, Galatasaray look set to mount another strong title defense. They next host Çaykur Rizespor on Saturday in Istanbul, aiming to extend their perfect start.
