Paris 2024: Falconet’s Esther Onyenezide promises to give all in Super Falcons call-up

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria Midfielder Esther Onyenezide has been drafted to replace 2023 FIFA World Cup star Halimatu Ayinde in the country squad for the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament doubleheader against Ethiopia.

Following her impressive performance at last year’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals in Costa Rica, where she helped Nigeria advance to the quarterfinals.

She joined the delegation of home-based players, and technical and backroom staff of Nigeria who flew into Addis Ababa on Sunday.

Nigeria will battle in the first leg on Wednesday at the Abebe Bekila Stadium before heading home for the second leg of the fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 31st October 2023.

Therefore, the Robo Queens star has promised to give her all as she posted on her official X page.

🇳🇬 Excited to announce that I’ve been invited to join the Nigeria’s senior women’s national team!,” she wrote.

“It’s an honor to represent my country and wear the green and white.  Can’t wait to give it my all and make Nigeria proud against Ethiopia!  #Nigeria #SuperFalcons”

With two slots available for CAF representatives, the winner over two legs will confront the winner of the fixture between Cameroon and Uganda.
