Paris 2024: Ike Shorunmu gives insight on Super Falcons’ success in ‘Group of Death’

By Wale Mustapha

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu, has provided valuable advice to the Super Falcons as they prepare for the challenge of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Shorunmu, emphasizing the need for a strong performance, stated, “I urge the Falcons to be strong, focused, and resilient in their game during the group stage because they are facing some of the world’s football champions.”

He further stressed, “At the same time, it is a necessity for the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the technical crew to involve seasoned players. Beware of aged players for better performance by the team at the group stage.”

Shorunmu highlighted the importance of selecting experienced players, cautioning against relying too heavily on aging players.

Regarding the Falcons’ return to the Olympics after 16 years, Shorunmu remarked, “The team belongs to the group of world football champions.”

The Super Falcons will kick off their campaign with a challenging match against Brazil on July 25th.
