Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons has expressed optimism of his side going all the way to beat the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the second leg of final qualifying round to the 2024 Olympics.
The nine time WAFCON champions managed a slender 1-0 victory over South Africa in the first leg the qualifier in Abuja on Friday, thanks to first half goal from Rasheedat Ajibade.
It was the match Waldrum side dominated for most parts and could have had more goals no thanks to profligacies on the part of the strikers.
Waldrum asserted that the second leg slated for next Tuesday will his team getting the job done and pick the ticket to Paris 2024.
“As for what I feel about the next leg, there is no difference if we would have won by two (goals) instead of one,” he said during a post match in Abuja.
“I still feel like we have to go and get a result there. We don’t want to go and sit back and try to defend and hold on to this victory.
“I think we still want to show that we are the best team in Africa and we are the better team. I thought we showed that tonight, and we’ll show it again next week.”
