Paris 2024 Qualifiers: Cameroon suffers Monique Mgock blow ahead of Nigeria duel

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Cameroon will be without midfielder, Monique Mgock ahead of this month’s two-legged third round encounter in the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers against Nigeria.

The midfielder suffered an injury in action for French side Stade de Reims and is expected to be replaced in the coming days ahead of the first leg of the qualifiers.

The development comes as a huge blow for Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s side as they will miss out on one of his regulars.

Mgock scored a goal in 19 league games for the French side last season as has played 12 league games for Stade de Reims, a team that has two Super Falcons players this term.

Bisseck named a roster ahead of the game with four players on standby in case of this kind of injury, with the standby list featuring, Abumba II Clarisse, Audrey Sabikiti, Mbomozomo Brigitte, and Beyina Daniella.

The winner of the two-legged tie will face the victors of another third-round match between South Africa and Tanzania in the deciding round.
