The players and officials of Cameroon’s senior women’s national team arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s political capital on Sunday ahead of Monday’s clash with Nigeria.
After playing out a 0-0 draw with the Super Falcons in Douala on Friday, the Indomitable Lionesses will hope to stop the nine-time African champions from progressing to the last round of the Olympics Qualifiers.
The Central African side departed Douala at 8:15 am on Sunday on board Air Cote D’Ivoire.
They landed on Nigerian soil around 9:30 am at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
After airport formalities, the delegation headed to the Grand Pela Hotel and Suites.
Cameroon edged Uganda 3-2 on aggregate in the second round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers.
Nigeria eliminated Ethiopia in the previous round of the qualifiers.
The focus now according to defender, Ashleigh Plumptre and coach Randy Waldrum after the 0-0 draw is to qualify for the Olympics for the first time since 2008.
To achieve that, they have to beat Cameroon and negotiate a final-round clash with either South Africa or Tanzania with the former picking a 3-0 away win in the first leg.
