Paris 2024: Rasheedat Ajibade vows to utilise Nigeria chances against Spain

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria’s captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has vowed that her team will capitalize on their scoring opportunities against reigning world champions Spain in their crucial second group game at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Super Falcons narrowly lost 1-0 to Brazil in their opener, despite creating numerous scoring chances. Spain, meanwhile, edged Japan 2-1, placing them at the top of Group C and making Nigeria’s quest for a quarterfinal spot more challenging.

With no reported injuries, Coach Randy Waldrum is expected to retain the starting lineup from the opening game as they seek redemption against Spain.

Ajibade, who plays in the Spanish league, expressed her confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back.

“We missed quite a few chances against Brazil, and they took theirs,” Ajibade said in an interview with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) TV.

“We will do our best to take our chances against Spain on Sunday.”

Ajibade’s experience and familiarity with the Spanish playing style could prove crucial as Nigeria aims to secure a vital victory and keep their Olympic hopes alive.
