Patience Avre: Former Super Falcons Star Hails President Tinubu’s Support for National Teams

Former Nigeria’s senior women’s national team striker Patience Avre-Odeli has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his recent show of generosity towards Nigeria’s national teams, saying it has earned him admiration from sports stakeholders and fans alike.
Avre, now based in the United States, said the President impressed many when he hosted and rewarded both the Super Falcons—winners of the WAFCON title in Morocco—and D’Tigress—AfroBasket champions in Côte d’Ivoire—within the same week.
“President Tinubu’s popularity is growing since he splashed millions of naira, land, apartments, and national honours on the Falcons and D’Tigress. There was hardly any criticism of him. He and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, have clearly won the hearts of many Nigerians and millions of football fans,” said Avre, spokesperson for the Ex-United Falcons Worldwide.
The Delta-born ex-international, who represented Nigeria at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games, believes many athletes now see Tinubu as an ally.
“I’m not a politician, but I’m convinced more athletes are joining the Tinubu camp. It’s the first time a Nigerian president has hosted and honoured two victorious national teams in one week. No leader has done that before. My appeal is for the President and the First Lady to also appreciate some of us who worked hard to bring glory to Nigeria. They have set the pace,” she said.
Avre also expressed her personal connection to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Warri Wolves, wishing them success ahead of the new season.
She credited her early development to Napoleon Aluma, the club’s head coach, who mentored her at Invincible Leopards FC.
“I’ve been supporting the Leopards Academy and plan to do more in grooming fresh talents. Motivation is key, which is why I remain grateful to President Tinubu,” Avre added.
