Paul Onuachu at crossroads over Trabzonspor move

By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria international Paul Onuachu is at the centre of a transfer saga after making a surprise return to action for the Saints.
The Super Eagles striker joined Southampton from Genk in January 2023 but had a tough start to life at the club before going on a season-long loan spell at Trabzonspor.
The 30-year-old lanky striker found his rhythm back in Turkey scoring 17 goals with four assists from just 25 games in all competitions for Trabzonspor last season.
Therefore, they have been in talks with Southampton over signing him permanently.
Meanwhile, Saints would also like to sell Onuachu before the transfer window closes but Trabzonspor are unwilling to pay their €13 million valuation.
The Turkish outfit has only submitted one offer to the English side —a £5m bid, which was rejected.
As per Turkish outlet, Sabah, Trabzonspor have made it their priority to get a deal done for Onuachu and are preparing to hold subsequent talks with Southampton over a final offer that’ll settle the transfer saga.
While his next move is yet to be sorted out, the striker was in action for the Premier League club against the Spanish side, Getafe in their final pre-season friendly.
