Paul Onuachu tipped to score 20 Super Lig goals with Trabzonspor in Turkey
By Wale Mustapha
Veteran Turkish manager Fuat Capa has predicted that Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu will score more goals in the current campaign with Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig this season.
The Super Eagles forward joined the Turkish side this summer on loan from Southampton after failing to impress in the Premier League with the Saints.
Since his arrival in Turkey, the 29-year-old has since hit the ground running, scoring in two consecutive games for Trabzonspor.
Capa who has managed a number of top Super Lig clubs, believes Onuachu’s positive start and game contribution could see him make a huge impact at the club.
“He got off to a perfect start, I saw both matches. On his debut at home against Besiktas, he immediately scored his first goal – with his head,” the football expert said on Turkish TV.
“He scored again against Hatayspor and also provided an assist, and then the best Onuachu still has to come. You notice that he has hardly played since January.
“He is not fit enough and cannot yet cope with playing for 90 minutes. It started the past two weeks, but had to be replaced each time.
“We all know that he is a good striker who can record impressive statistics. I dare not predict that he will score fifty goals. But I can see him scoring twenty times, Onuachu fits well in the Turkish league.”
Onuachu is expected to increase his numbers when Trabzonspor take on Pendikspor on Saturday.
