Saudi Arabia-based goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi has promised to reward her former teammates at Rivers Angels if they win their ninth President Federation Cup title on Saturday.
The Port Harcourt-based side will face Naija Ratels FC from Abuja in the final of the women’s President Federation Cup at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Super Falcons goalkeeper, Oluehi made this pledge during an interview with Gongnews.net after training with the team at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, the venue for the cup final.
“I told them that if they win, I will gift them something tangible,” she said.
“I also trained with them to encourage them to go out and win for the state. I know the rewards that come with winning a trophy for Rivers State, so I want to motivate them to do well.”
During her time with Rivers Angels, Oluehi won both the league and the FA Cup, securing the FA Cup titles in 2017 and 2018 and the league title in 2019, before moving abroad to further her career.
She has played for Bayelsa Queens, Sunshine Queens, and Bobruichanka Bobruisk before joining Rivers Angels.
With other stints at Medika IL, Pozoalbense (Spain), Maccabi Kishronot Hadera (Israel), and Hakkarigucu Spor (Turkey), Oluehi was part of the Super Falcons side that won the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with heroic penalty saves in the final match against South Africa.
Rivers Angels is the most successful team as far as the President Federation Cup is concerned with eight victories in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
A win in the final match on Saturday will seal a ninth title for the Jewels of Rivers.
