President Federation Cup: Rivers Angels’ Agatha Thompson reacts on winning best goalkeeper

By Saheed Afolabi
Rivers Angels goalkeeper Agatha Thompson was elated after being named the best goalkeeper of the 2024 President Federation Cup in Lagos.
The Rivers Angels shot-stopper conceded only two goals on the path to the final, showcasing her exceptional skills.
Reflecting on the journey, Agatha highlighted the team’s determination and preparation, emphasizing that anything less than winning the title would have been considered a failure, especially after narrowly missing out on the NWFL Premiership Super Six title.
“I feel blessed by God for winning the Federation Cup best goalkeeper,” Agatha told nigeriafootball.ng exclusively. “We were fully determined and prepared to win the Federation Cup because we were not happy when we came second in the Super Six.”
Agatha, who previously played for Abia Angels, spoke about the immense pressure the team faced and how they used it to fuel their success.
“So we approached the Federation Cup like a hungry lion, determined to win the competition,” she said. “We were very hungry and thirsty for the title. The final wasn’t easy because there was so much pressure on us to come out on top, having made it to the final.”
