Prince Eletu Queens crowned maiden Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup Champions

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens defeated fellow second-tier rivals, Imo Strikers 2-0 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State capital.
The game was a repeat of the Group B game which ended 1-0 in favour of Imo Strikers as the curtain fell on the maiden edition of the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup on Wednesday.
Ikediuba Peace opened the scoring for Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens in the 14th minute before Adebanjo Ayanfe scored in the 66th minute from a wonderfully taken free kick to guarantee the Lagos side’s victory.
Moje Queens of Erin-Ile, Kwara State won the bronze medal and Fair Play award, while Ikediuba Peace with four goals clinched the highest goal scorer award.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens goalkeeper, Kazeem Eletu clinched the goalkeeper of the tournament and Imo Strikers forward, Achifula Harmony smiled home with the most valuable player award.
The tournament was born out of the need to immortalise Ifeanyi Chiejine who was the youngest player at the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup while representing the Super Falcons at the age of 16 years and 34 days.
The record still stands to date as Chiejine is still the youngest player at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
