PSG Manager Luis Enrique expresses frustration over failed Victor Osimhen transfer

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique has voiced his frustration over the club’s unsuccessful attempt to secure Nigerian international Victor Osimhen for the 2024/25 season.

Despite extensive links with high-profile clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG, Osimhen’s significant €130 million release clause proved a barrier, preventing any of these teams from finalizing a deal.

Rumors had suggested that Osimhen might join PSG, especially after the club reportedly agreed on personal terms with the striker following Gonçalo Ramos’ injury.

However, the anticipated move did not materialize, as PSG decided not to meet Napoli’s valuation of €100 million.

At a recent press conference, Enrique highlighted the difficulties PSG faced in their pursuit of top-tier players during the summer transfer window.

“We wanted to hire some players, but their price was too high. It didn’t make sense,” Enrique explained, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

“There wasn’t a real opportunity. If the market window had allowed us to take a player with 50 goals per season, we would have done it, but the reality was different.”

Enrique’s comments underscore the challenges PSG encountered in their quest to bolster their squad with a high-caliber striker, reflecting the complexities and financial hurdles often present in the high-stakes world of football transfers.
