Ralf Rangnick confirms his Man United future

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he will remain at the club in a consultancy role.

The German though refused to comment on speculations linking him with the Austria national team role. 

Upon signing his deal at United in November, the 63-year-old was to take up a consultancy role once the club brought in a permanent manager. 

“I want to speak tonight about Manchester United and our game and the rest of the season here,” he said following United’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford. 

“This is the issue and I can also confirm that I will continue at the end of the season in my consultancy role.

“I will definitely continue with my consultancy role for the next two years and I very much look forward to that.

“It would leave space for another job, yes, but that is what we had agreed to start with back in November last year.”

Rangnick said he will remain as an advisor as United begins a rebuild in the Ten Hag era, though the Dutchman and German have yet to chat about the future.

“I didn’t say that I will be a big part of it but we have definitely agreed now on the contract and the time of my consultancy role,” Ralf added.

“So far, we haven’t spoken, Erik and myself but hopefully and probably that will happen in the future. But we have spoken to the board about the contract and that is why I can confirm I will carry on.

“I am more than happy and willing to help to change things for the better.”

Rangnick has heavily been linked with the Austrian national team managerial role, with reports indicating he will be announced anytime from now.
