Randy Waldrum laments Super Falcons poor rating in latest world ranking
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria head coach, Randy Waldrum is displeased with the latest FIFA women’s world ranking, released on Friday.
The Super Falcons were ranked 32 best team in the world by the world football governing body, climbing up eight places from 40th position despite a gallant Round of 16 elimination from the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Irked by the rankings, the American coach hit out at FIFA for rating the Falcons poorly as he believes they should have done better, having ended the tournament without defeat in four matches in regulation time.
“We should be much higher after getting out of the group of death, not losing any game in 90 minutes,”

Waldrum was quoted by BSN Sports.
“We draw against the defending Olympic Gold medalist (ranked 7), defeating the host nation (ranked 10), drawing against Ireland (ranked 21), and draw against European Champions England (ranked 3). We should at least be in the top 20.”
Nigeria leapfrogged from the 40th position to be 32nd in the world to maintain its position as the best team in Africa.
