Rangers International will be without one of their midfield stars, Ugochukwu Ugwuoke at the start of new Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL following a horrible knee surgery.
Ugwuoke sustained the injury at the start of last season which denied him the opportunity to contribute to Rangers’ season in the abridged league.
General Manager of the Flying Antelopes, Amobi Ezeaku who confirmed the news on Thursday, said the operation became necessary for the player as not to dampen his career.
“Yes, management has decided to work the talk to see that Ugwuoke is back on the field to help us win matches,”
Ezeaku told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“This is a bundle of talent that cannot just be left to waste, hence our decision to get in touch with a top medical professional to help with his niggling knee injury that is threatening his career.
“With the assurances we have, in less than six months, Ugwuoke Ugochukwu will be fully fit to defend the colors of Rangers again.”
The surgery that has been fixed for 4th October, 2023 at one of the top health facilities in Enugu State will mean the midfielder remain on the sideline for at least six months.
Rangers will take on Doma United, in their first game of 2023/2024 NPFL season on Sunday at the Awka City Stadium in Awka.
