Raphinha will sign his new Barcelona contract on Thursday after agreeing an extension that will keep him at the club until 2030.

The Brazilian winger’s renewal comes during an outstanding run of form, with Raphinha having scored twice in Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Aston Villa.

Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that the signing ceremony would take place on Thursday in the presence of club president Joan Laporta. The agreement had previously been announced by sporting director Deco during the members’ general assembly in September.

Raphinha’s two goals against Aston Villa extended his scoring run to three consecutive matches. He has also scored two goals in each of his past two games, underlining his importance to Barcelona’s attack.

His second goal against the English side followed an accurate pass from Fermin Lopez, while the other came after an impressive individual move involving Joao Cancelo.

The brace took Raphinha’s Champions League total for Barcelona to 23 goals, level with Robert Lewandowski. That leaves him joint-third in the club’s all-time scoring list in the competition alongside Lewandowski.

Only Luis Suarez, with 25 goals, and Lionel Messi, who leads the standings with 120 goals in 149 appearances, are ahead of them.

Raphinha has also equalled Ronaldinho’s overall tally for Barcelona, reaching 94 goals in all competitions for the club.

His figures this season reflect the scale of his influence. He has scored 19 goals in 13 official appearances, having returned to his best form after being affected by physical problems during the previous campaign.

The renewal represents a formal commitment from Barcelona to a player whose recent performances have made him one of the central figures in the team’s attacking structure. His latest goals also came as Barcelona continued their Champions League campaign with a convincing win over Aston Villa.

The club’s announcement follows the agreement outlined by Deco in September and sets the stage for Raphinha to complete the paperwork at Thursday’s ceremony alongside Laporta.
