Real Madrid close in on €140m deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Real Madrid are closer than ever to completing the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from German club RB Leipzig during the current summer transfer window.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sport Germany, said on Wednesday that the two clubs were on the verge of reaching a final agreement for the player.

“Big breakthrough! Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are now on the verge of completing the transfer of Yan Diomande,” Plettenberg wrote on his account on X.

He subsequently outlined the financial terms of the proposed deal, with Real Madrid set to pay an initial guaranteed fee of €125m.

“Exclusive details: the guaranteed transfer fee is €125m. With realistic bonuses included, the value is expected to rise to €135m, while the total amount could reach €140m if all of the bonuses linked to difficult-to-achieve conditions are met,” he added.

The agreement would also provide a payment to Leganes, Diomande’s former club. Plettenberg said the Spanish side would receive about 5% of the profit from the player’s transfer, in line with the agreement reached between the relevant parties.

“Only the final formalities remain before the transfer is officially completed,” he said.

Diomande enjoyed an impressive season with RB Leipzig and also produced strong performances for Ivory Coast. His displays for the national team came during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

The proposed transfer would therefore represent a major investment by Real Madrid, although the deal has not yet been formally completed. The remaining administrative procedures must be concluded before the move can be confirmed by the clubs.

The structure of the agreement means the final value could vary considerably. The guaranteed amount is set at €125m, but performance-related payments could add a further €10m if the anticipated bonuses are achieved. A maximum overall figure of €140m is possible if every bonus tied to the most demanding conditions is eventually triggered.

Leganes’ entitlement to approximately 5% of the profit also forms part of the transfer arrangements because of the agreement involving Diomande and the parties connected to his previous move. That payment would be separate from the various performance-related additions that could increase the total value of the Real Madrid deal.

For now, the key developments are the reported agreement between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig and the completion of the final formal steps. Once those procedures have been concluded, Diomande’s move to the Spanish club is expected to be officially announced.
