Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede confident of NPFL Super Six qualification
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede believes his team is on course to qualify for the Nigeria Premier Football League Super Six inspite of a 1-1 draw against Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday.
The Sky Blue Stars are currently placed fourth on the Group A log, with eighth points behind group leaders, Bendel Insurance, and four points behind second-placed Akwa United.
The three points deduction for referee assault saw Remo Stars dropped out of the top three places in Group A but the tactician is upbeat about their chance of qualifying for the season-ending championship playoffs.
“We are still on course. We have set a target for ourselves from the beginning of the season and we are still on course.” Ogunmodede told Brila FM.
“That’s what we want to do. We want to qualify for the Super Six. We are fighting really hard. One of the consequences is picking a point against Shooting Stars in Ibadan. We are still very much on course.”
The club, will next host leaders, Bendel Insurance on Sunday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne in a bid to end the visitors 13 matches unbeaten run in the league.
