Remo Stars’ Sikiru Alimi chides NPFL for approving Dan Anyiam Stadium for Heartland

Remo Stars striker, Sikiru Alimi has criticized the board of Nigeria Premier Football League for sanctioning Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri for league matches.
The Owerri Stadium was approved to host home games of Heartland FC for the 2023/2024 NPFL season and a trending video on Social Media (X) showing the poor state of the stadium, with some portions of the pitch sandy as many described it as a beach soccer pitch.
Alimi while reacting to the video adding that the league body must prosecute those officials that approved the stadium and charge them to court.
“People wey approve this thing suppose collect 100 strokes of cane each, then stay jail for like 5 years,” he wrote.
Many clubs who have played on the pitch have also complained of the pitch quality as portions of the pitch is without grass.
Heartland hosted Remo Stars in Matchday 16 of the NPFL on the same pitch and won 3-1.
