Reps Committee chair postpones planned parley with sports stakeholders in Abuja

Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Ekene Adams Abubakar has announced the shift of its planned session with critical stakeholders to pave a way for Nigerian sports earlier scheduled for Thursday August 3 in Abuja.
In a bid to hit the ground running, Honourable Ekene had revealed plans for the session just few days after he was named Chairman House Committee on Sports in the 10th House of Representatives by Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.
According to a statement from the media office of the Chairman House Committee on Sports, he said: ” This is inform all Sports loving Nigerians that the planned Sports Stakeholders Meeting earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday August 3rd 2023 has been postponed.
“This decision, though painful, but we are constrained to take this decision due to the planned strike which could affect people’s movements. We are sensitive and do not want to inconvenience people.
“We shall look at a more appropriate date very soon which will be convenient for everyone. We regret any inconveniences that this decision may have caused Nigerians.”
The statement further affirmed that:”The Chairman will continue to engage and consult with critical stakeholders towards ensuring that the event takes place soon . We appreciate the support, enthusiasm and encouragement from well meaning Nigerians. Be rest assured that we shall work together to change the narrative for our sports.”
The accomplished sports administrator, ex-KADA Stars Chief will meet officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, Presidents of all the 36 Sports Federations, the Nigerian  Olympic Committee, Premier League Club Owners, Nationwide League and other League Boards,  Referees, Ex Internationals, Players Union, The National Institute for Sports, Former Sports Ministers, Coaches, Lottery  Board, EFCC, ICPC and members of Corporate Nigeria in a parley billed for the Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Also expected at the event are the Nigerian Olympians Association, the Nigeria Police Force, Medical Practioners, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Nigerian School Sports Federation amongst others.
Honourable Ekene assured that the meeting will set the tone for a robust and renewed policy direction for Nigerian Sports as well as to seek areas of mutual benefits in the best interest of Nigerian youths.
