Rinsola Babajide assists as AS Roma defeat Aktobe in Champions League Qualifiers

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria international Rinsola Babajide played a key role as AS Roma Women secured a 2–0 victory over Aktobe in the second qualifying round of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.

The 2024 WAFCON winner provided the assist for the opening goal in the 40th minute, setting up Marta Pandini to break the deadlock.

Just a minute later, Giulia Galli doubled the advantage, sealing the win for the Italian champions before half-time.

Babajide impressed in attack and lasted 69 minutes before being replaced by Emilie Haavi, while her compatriot Shukurat Oladipo featured for the entire 90 minutes.

The former Liverpool player and Oladipo were part of Super Falcons side that won the country’s 10th WAFCON title in Morocco.

The result keeps Roma’s quest for a group stage spot firmly on track, with the team showing strong form at this stage of the competition.
