Rivers United striker Nyima Nwagua admits they must start gaining good away results in their CAF Confederation Cup match against D.R. Congo’s Motema Pembe FC at the Estádi Joo 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola on Sunday.
The Nigerian champions are Nigeria’s only representative on the continent this season and are currently ranked second in Group B, after a win and a defeat in two matches and the Port Harcourt-based club are bad loser away following losses at Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and to Diable Noirs of Congo.
However, the former Kano Pillars striker believes they can achieve a good result when they face the Congolese in their third group game.
“It’s a crucial game for us because we are trying to establish ourselves in the group and everybody is working to kick start very well and then a good result here takes us to a good position in the group,” Nwagua told media.
“The group is so tight and every game is important, so it’s a decisive game and we have to start getting right from the away game.
“It’s a neutral ground and everybody wants to get a good result but we are going to stay focused and stick to our plan no matter where we are playing.”
