Rofiat Imuran happy to make first senior Nigeria’s FIFA Women’s World Cup squad

Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, head coach of the Nigeria senior women’s national team, Randy Waldrum has named his final squad which includes Rofiat Imuran for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

The former U20 defender, who had joined French club Stade De Reims in November 2021, has continued to be an integral part of Randy Waldrum’s side and made the list of 23 to represent the country at the global showpiece.

The 18-year-old has expressed her excitement after making the final list of the Super Falcons for the mundial.

“It’s a great honour and privilege to have been named as part of the @NGSuper_Falcons team going to the 2023 @FIFAWWC. I promise to continue giving my all to the shirt”, she tweeted on her official handle.

Nigeria are drawn in Group B alongside co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and debutants the Republic of Ireland at the upcoming global showpiece, involving 32 teams for the first time, from July 20 to August 20, 2023.

Following a brilliant performance at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, Imuran who has risen to the senior team is happy for her inclusion as she promised to continue giving her best.
