Nigeria’s Rofiat Imuran will play top flight English women’s football next season after her team, London City Lionesses secured promotion ticket from the Championship to the WSL on Sunday.

They played out a 2-2 draw with Birmingham at the St. Andrews to confirm their promotion to the WSL.

London City Lionesses needed to avoid defeat in the top of the table clash while their opponents had a herculean task of picking victory to gain promotion.

The travelers had a two goal lead early in the second half thanks to Isobel Goodwin and Ghanian player, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah.

Birmingham responded with two goals from Emily van Egmond and So-Hyun Cho.

London City Lionesses became the first fully independent women’s Club to gain promotion to the WSL.

Imuran was replaced by Cerys Brown in the 90th minute as she completed 13 games for the team in the Championship.

She joined them this season after being release by French side, Stade de Reims alongside compatriot, Oluwatosin Demehin who is in Galatasaray, Turkey.

The former Rivers Angels player will join Toni Payne (Everton) in the WSL.
