Roosa Ariyo: Nigeria striker scores fifth Club Brugge goal in eight-goal thriller

Nigerian forward, Roosa Ariyo was on target as her Belgian Super League Women’s side, Club Brugge suffered a 5-3 defeat to Anderlecht on Friday in Round 12 of the league season.
Ariyo joined the Belgian outfit from Spanish club UDG Tenerife this summer after ending a fruitless spell in Spanish football due to administrative issues following her arrival from Finish side TiPS in January 2022.
The former TiPS forward scored the first goal of the match for Club Brugge in the 12th minute before Charlotte Tison’s equaliser for Anderlecht in the 20th minute.
Davinia Vanmechelen restored Club Brugge’s lead in the 36th minute to give the visitors a 1-2 halftime lead.
The host recovered in the second half to score four goals from Silke Vanwynsberghe, Sarah Wijnants, Marie Minnaert, and Abdulai Toloba to race to a 2-5 lead.
Davinia Vanmechelen’s second goal of the game for Club Brugge made the scoreline respectable into full-time.
Ariyo has scored five goals for Club Brugge in the league this season as her team recorded back-to-back defeat in the league.
Club Brugge occupy the fourth position on the log with 19 points after 11 games, 11 points behind league leader, Leuven.
Ariyo and her team will next face GBA Kontich in the Belgian Cup Women on November 30, 2022.
