Rumour Mills: Arsenal near €2m deal for Nigeria-eligible talent Victor Ozhianvuna

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of sealing a €2 million deal for Shamrock Rovers prodigy Victor Ozhianvuna, fending off interest from several top European clubs.

The highly-rated 16-year-old, born in Tallaght to Russian and Nigerian parents, has long been regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Ireland.

Rovers head coach Stephen Bradley recently confirmed that a deal with an unnamed club is nearing completion—widely believed to be Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

“He is a really special talent. I think that is quite clear to see,” Bradley said. “There are so many more layers to him. He can play inside, as a No. 10, off the right, or just behind the striker. He’s a special player.”

Bradley also highlighted the wide attention Ozhianvuna has drawn across Europe: “Teams have been watching Victor since he was 12. He’s played against top sides across the continent.

“Even though he hasn’t had much first-team exposure yet, everyone knows who he is.”

The coach also praised the youngster’s mentality and passion for the game: “Whether he’s in the car park or on the pitch, he just wants to play. It’s his ball—he wants it back. That’s how he approaches the game.”

Should the deal go through as expected, Ozhianvuna would remain with Shamrock Rovers until he turns 18 in January 2027.

This would allow him to complete the entire 2025/26 season with the Irish club before making his move to North London.

The transfer, if finalized, signals another smart long-term investment by Arsenal in emerging talent, particularly from under-scouted regions.
