Rumour Mills: Jordan Torunarigha uncertain about future with Belgian club

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian midfielder Jordan Torunarigha has revealed his uncertainty about remaining with Belgian Jupiler League side KAA Gent beyond this season.

The 26-year-old is now in the final six months of his contract, making him eligible to discuss a potential move with interested clubs.

Gent have reportedly offered Torunarigha a new two-year contract, but the defender has yet to commit to the deal, leaving his future up in the air.

Belgian league rivals Anderlecht are among the clubs closely monitoring his situation, with speculation mounting about his next move.

Last summer, a number of prominent European clubs, including Torino, Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and Hoffenheim, were linked with the Hertha Berlin academy graduate. However, Torunarigha opted to remain with Gent for the time being.

Despite the rumors, Torunarigha downplayed any talk of an imminent transfer, stating that no clubs have approached his management for his services as of now.

“I don’t know if these are my last months in Gent. Anderlecht? People are writing all sorts of things, but nobody has asked me anything,” Torunarigha said in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone, we’ll see what happens. In football, anything is possible. The chance that I’ll stay in Ghent is fifty-fifty.”

Since joining KAA Gent, Torunarigha has been a key figure in the team’s defense, making 128 appearances and contributing four goals and six assists. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on the Nigerian international to see whether he will extend his stay at Gent or move on to pastures new.
