Rumour Mills: Newcastle United set to launch audacious bid for Samuel Chukwueze

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze could be on his way to Newcastle United by February, according to reports from England.

The 24-year-old, who has struggled for regular game time at Serie A side AC Milan this season, has been linked with a move away from San Siro before the close of the current transfer window.

Newcastle United, who have identified Chukwueze as a potential replacement for Miguel Almiron, are reportedly preparing to launch a lucrative bid for the Super Eagles winger.

Almiron left the Magpies last summer for Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United, leaving a gap in Newcastle’s attack.

According to TMW, the Premier League club is expected to present their offer to AC Milan before the end of this week.

However, Newcastle will likely face competition for the Nigerian international, as Spanish club Real Sociedad is also said to have shown interest and made an approach to Milan last week.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal in 2023 and has made 18 league appearances this season, scoring two goals.

His move to the Premier League would represent a significant step in his career, offering him the opportunity to play in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
