Rumour Mills: West Ham close to snatch Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottimgham Forest

By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi is on the verge of completing a switch from Nottingham Forest to fellow English Premier League side West Ham United, Nigeriafootball.ng reports.
The Super Eagles’ forward has been the subject of transfer speculation, with notable EPL clubs and others from abroad expressing interest in his signature.
Nottingham Forest are forced to sell high-profile players to balance their financial situation, which saw them face points deduction in the past season. Players like Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White are among those Forest intends to cash in on to address their financial issues.
West Ham are leading the race to sign the former Union Berlin forward, who is currently holidaying in Nigeria, as the deal is almost close to being agreed.
Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest on a five-year deal, with the club paying a record transfer fee of £17 million. He has gone on to score over 20 goals with notable assists in his two seasons with the Tricky Trees.
