Samu Omorodion shortlisted for 2024 Golden Boy Award

Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion, who currently plays for FC Porto, has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2024 Golden Boy Award, joining a list of 19 other young footballing talents.

The 20-man nomination list, released on Thursday, features notable rising stars including Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Manchester United’s Kobie Mainoo, and Real Madrid’s Arda Güler.

At just 19 years old, Omorodion has been in sensational form, bursting onto the scene during the latter stages of last season with Atlético Madrid. His impressive performances have continued with FC Porto, where he has already scored seven goals in eight appearances.

The Golden Boy Award is a once-in-a-lifetime accolade, presented annually to the best player under 21 years of age who plays in one of Europe’s top leagues. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham is the current holder of the award, following an outstanding season with both club and country.

The winner of the 2024 Golden Boy Award will be announced on December 17 in Turin.
