Samuel Chukwueze undergoes successful surgery on ruptured hip tendon
AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has had successful surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hip, the Serie A club have confirmed.
The operation was carried out in London by Professor Ernest Schilders, with AC Milan doctor Stefano Mazzoni present.
“AC Milan confirms that Samuel Chukwueze has undergone surgery in London to repair a ruptured tendon of the tensor fasciae latae muscle in his left hip,” the club said in a statement on their official website.
“The operation, performed by Professor Ernest Schilders with Dr Stefano Mazzoni in attendance, was successful.
“Chukwueze will return to Italy today, where he will begin his rehabilitation.”
The 27-year-old Nigeria international is expected to be unavailable until the end of the year. That would rule him out of Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.
Chukwueze suffered the injury last month while preparing for AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League match against Bournemouth.
The former Villarreal player had made a positive start to the season after returning from a loan spell at Fulham. He has provided two assists in eight appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri this campaign.
